Gluten Free Black Forest Layer Cake

Gluten Free Black Forest Layer Cake

I made this Gluten Free Black Forest Layer Cake for my husbands birthday last Tuesday! It was the first time I’ve made and tasted a Black forest cake before and I have to say I absolutely loved it. Oh and so did the birthday boy!!

The chocolate cakes were filled with white chocolate ganache and cherry jam and a dark chocolate icing to top finish off the cake. I realised I didn’t make quite enough ganache or cherry jam, so I made sure to double the quantities in the recipe below so you don’t run out!

I know this isn’t one of my quickest or simplest recipes, so I will forgive you if you don’t go out and make it this weekend. I’d seriously consider it for your next birthday celebration though, it was so divine. You might also want to read a little bit about why birthdays are so important in my family. I shared it on my blog last year with a recipe for Gluten Free Chocolate and Salted Caramel Layer Cake. Just excuse the fact the cake wasn’t very even shaped or flat.

Anyway, I must say thanks to Delicious magazine for the original recipe. I adapted it to be gluten free with a few less steps. Thanks for stopping by!

Gluten Free Lemon Yoghurt Syrup Cake

Gluten Free Lemon Yoghurt Syrup Cake

This Gluten Free Lemon Yoghurt Syrup Cake has been on my “bucket list” to make for a while. It requires only 7 ingredients and can be made in under an hour! Oh and did I mention it tastes utterly delicious!!

My husband came home one day raving about a Lemon Yoghurt Syrup Cake his work colleague made for morning tea. So, I had to bake one and taste what all the fuss was about! After making my first syrup cake earlier in the year, a Gluten Free Lime and Poppyseed Syrup Cake, I also learnt a few things and wanted to test them out on a similar recipe.

Now I can’t claim the original recipe as mine, but I cannot credit the exact source as I found the recipe from an old newspaper. I did however modify the recipe to be Gluten Free and contain a extra punch of lemon flavour. I think you will be happy with the end result if you bake it.

All you have to do is print the recipe and grab your ingredients and you will be ready to go!

Thanks for stopping by,

Amanda

Gluten Free Spiced Chocolate Fruit Cake

Gluten Free Spiced Chocolate Fruit Cake

Next week I’m attending a Christmas in July dinner with work, so I decided I would get into the into the Christmas spirit a little early and bake this Gluten Free Spiced Chocolate Fruit Cake.

I feel like most people either love or hate fruit cake. Do you agree? I for one LOVE fruit cake and think it deserves to be eaten a few times a year rather than just at Christmas time! So with that being said, I decided to add chocolate to the mix. The chocolate flavour is subtle but makes this cake so so good. I will definitely be making it again at Christmas!

Thanks, for stopping by.

Gluten Free Scones

Gluten Free Scones

I’ve been on a quest to find a recipe for delicious Gluten Free Scones for a while now. I want to bake (and eat) gluten free scones that are fluffy and actually rise in the oven! So after my husband stumbled across a recipe that takes a slightly different approach from traditional scone recipes, I thought I would give it a go. The end result was an amazing tasting scone, the BEST I’ve ever tasted, so I just had to share the recipe with you!

Now I need to be honest and tell you that despite a few attempts modifying the original recipe, I was unable to get these scones to rise in the oven. So I will continue my quest for the perfect GF scone recipe. If you have the great GF scone recipe, PLEASE share it with me?!

I also want to say, the original recipe that I’ve included here comes from Jamie Oliver’s website. I debated whether or not just directly link to the original recipe given the scones produced from this recipe turned out the best, of the modified versions I tested. But in the end, I found the author of the recipe, Jody Vassalo, didn’t include adequate details in her instructions, so I decided to re-write the recipe to share with you my interpretation of the recipe.

Gluten Free Mini Cinnamon Doughnut Cakes

Gluten Free Mini Cinnamon Doughnut Cakes

I made these Gluten Free Mini Cinnamon Doughnut Cakes a few weeks ago and I’ve been dying to make another batch ever since! Coincidentally, I happened to bake these on National Doughnut Day. Who knew there was such a day?

I also have to admit I miss normal cinnamon doughnuts. We used to get them fresh and hot from the bakery when I was little. So I now have motivation to try making a batch of gluten free cinnamon doughnuts. If  you have a recipe for them please send it my way?!

A special thanks to the queen website once again for the original recipe. I halved it and modified it to be gluten free.

Thanks for reading, hope you’re all having a great week!
